The Registered Master Builders Federation was established in order to proactively promote the interests of its member builders,
promote improvements in laws, help maintain and improve the standards of New Zealand's building industry and to set a code of conduct,
which all Registered Master Builders' in New Zealand must observe.
The Registered Master Builders Federation been in existence for over 100 years. The fore-runner was the "Builders and Contractors' Association of
New Zealand, which was in existence in the 1890's. In August 1901 the first meeting of the renamed "Federal Council of NZ Builders and Contractors'
Association", which was subsequently renamed the Registered Master Builders' Federation, was held in Wellington.
The Registered Master Builders Federation currently has 1650 member companies - all of whom are employers,
ranging from small businesses to the largest construction companies in New Zealand.
We estimate that Registered Master Builders' employ either directly or on a contract basis, at least 60% of the total number of builders in New Zealand.
