Master Builders Fighting Fires

The New Zealand Fire Service provides emergency response services to communities across New Zealand thanks to over 10,000 firefighters, 9,000 of whom are volunteers. There are around 1,700 career firefighters who work in 24/7 fire stations in metropolitan areas.

We looked into it and discovered that there’s more than a few Master Builders who make up these volunteer numbers, so we caught up with some of them to talk about what it’s like supporting their community through the local fire brigade. Read more...

High noon at Turoa

Constructing Australasia’s highest chairlift is a daunting task in anyone’s book.  So when the new “High Noon” chairlift project on Turoa skifield was proposed by Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Ltd, Matamata-based, Stanley Group jumped at the chance to take on such a unique challenge. Construction Manager, Craig Davison believes it was Stanley Group’s extensive experience with helicopters and alpine environments that secured them the project, along with “the right, can do attitude to get the job done”. When David McLachlan, owner of MBL Construction (MBL) saw the tender for The Department of Conservation’s (DOC) Te Toto gorge and Bridal Veil Falls viewing platforms in the Waikato being offered on GETS, he jumped at the chance to work on such a challenging job.
