One Week until Entries Open for Apprentice of the Year 2021
Do you know our next Apprentice of the Year?

Entries open for New Zealand’s leading carpentry apprentice competition in one week – on 1st April.

Now is the time to start getting your apprentices ready to enter so they can make the first step towards taking their place on the winners podium, and driving away in the Nissan Navara, proudly provided by CARTERS!

Don't have an apprentice that can enter this year? If you know of someone who would be perfect for this competition, let them know!

Check out the Entry Guide, or get straight to our website for all you and your apprentice need to know about entering so they can be ready to put their best foot forward.

Remember – entry is open to all carpentry apprentices - not just those who work for a Master Builder or are trained by BCITO.

“There were many aspects of the competition I really enjoyed. Meeting  other apprentices and the support we gave each other at Nationals was fantastic. It has also been great to meet the judges, sponsors, and all the other people associated with our industry throughout the different stages of the competition.”

Thomas O'Brien, 2020 National Apprentice of the Year winner.

Is your apprentice eligible to enter?

They need to:

  • Be 30 years old or younger on 31 December 2021 and therefore born after 1 January 1991.
  • Be currently employed by, or contracted to a building firm or a builder at the time of the regional competition being judged (does not need to be a Registered Master Builder).
  • Have completed at least two years of your National Certificate in Carpentry on-site by 29 April 2021 and still be an apprentice at the time of entries close on Wednesday 29 April 2021.

We are delighted to announce that the National Practical will be co-located at BuildNZ on 4th November 2021. BuildNZ is the leading trade event, held at the ASB Showgrounds, for the Building, Construction, Design, and

 Architecture Industries.
