Manawatu & Whanganui
Supreme Winners
Announced
On Friday night we announced the
Manawatu & Whanganui House of the Year winners for 2021.
This year, there were
18 beautiful homes entered from around the Manawatu & Whanganui
region. The much anticipated event was celebrated at the Awapuni Racecourse
and was a fantastic evening of celebration. We hope everyone who attended
had a great night.
Supreme House of the
Year
EHAUS MANAWATU
For a Home in Feilding
This home also won the New Home $1.5 Million -
$2 Million Category, Pink Batts Craftmanship Award, APL Sustainable Excellence
Award, Kitchen Excellence Award, and a Gold Award.

This home is a
stunning build with a delightful architectural flare. The design is beautifully
elongated to allow all the rooms to open out into the expansive views over the
Manawatu plains. Given the extraordinary length of the house, it has been
broken down into individually distinct pavilions - a unique but effective
design.
The home stands out due to the
exquisite materials used, these include a German high-density fibre, precast
concrete, cedar, and Otago shist that has been specially cut to fit into the
home. It seamlessly integrates multiple exterior claddings and flush
negative detailing throughout the inside.
An impressive aspect of the build is
the premium thermal and highly efficient building envelope that will keep the
homeowners comfortable and warm. This is a real credit to the team; they have
strived to produce an excellently crafted home as well as a design that
provides many benefits to the owners.

Supreme Renovation of the Year
ONSLOW CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN
For a Home in Palmerston
North
This home also won the Renovation Up
to $500,000 Category, and a Gold Award.

This is a
lovely home that has integrated the new with the old seamlessly. The decision
to move the originally disjointed kitchen and living area to the rear of the
house was a stroke of genius. The outdoor access has also been moved which
creates a nice indoor-outdoor flow.
This renovation has been done with
style and function in mind. The inviting, open plan kitchen, dining, and living
area has helped to modernise the home. Important attention to detail has been
paid to ensure the matching windows were done to an expert level.
The addition of an ensuite to the
bedroom has been done very well. Overall all the work on the house has been
done with sympathy, with strong references to the original house.
