Bringing this home to life required extraordinary planning, determination and technical skill. Before the upper levels could take shape, a massive retaining wall had to be constructed to form a stable platform on the steep cliffside site. Delivering equipment, materials and specialist trades to Waiheke Island added further complexity to an already demanding project.

Create + Construct met those challenges with impressive control, delivering a meticulous finish across a build of considerable scale and difficulty. From the structural work beneath the home to the highly detailed materials and finishes above, the quality remains consistently high. This home has been approached with the precision and care of a finely crafted piece of furniture. That philosophy is evident throughout a highly demanding design where nothing is ordinary, and every junction relies on exact execution. The roof appears to hover above the walls, supported in part by a concealed column within the chimney surround, while elsewhere a substantial roof section rests on an angled timber post rising from the deck.

The demanding design left almost no margin for error, requiring exceptional precision at every stage of the build. Oversized, clear-finished hardwood joinery glides open with the ease of fine cabinetry, while interior doors and cabinetry fit perfectly within hardwood frames without the cover of traditional trims.
