Supreme House of the Year over $1 million
Mitre 10 Trade Craftsmanship Award

M O Brown Builders for a home in Cashmere, Christchurch

From the first approach, this home makes a confident statement. A striking glass pivot entry door sets the tone, while natural cedar and corten steel create an exterior that feels both robust and refined.

Inside, the home opens with a remarkable sense of natural light and calm. The open-plan layout, sleek lines and full-height internal doors give the spaces scale and clarity, while the kitchen stonework, linear gas fireplace and fully tiled bathrooms reflect an uncompromising level of finish.

What truly elevates this home is the way it brings its spaces to life. The connection between indoors and out is seamless, with oversized soffits leading to a generous entertaining area complete with a louvre roof and outdoor fireplace.

Modern, impressive and crafted with care, this home represents the very best of what our industry can achieve.

Supreme House of the Year under $1 million

T Dunn Builders for a home in Loburn, Rangiora

Character is at the heart of this home, expressed through thoughtful planning and a level of workmanship that never feels compromised. What stood out to the judges was not only the finished result, but the clear partnership between the builder and clients, with a shared vision carried carefully through every stage of the project.

The timber work, both inside and out, is a defining feature and has been delivered with real skill. It brings individuality and craft to a home that feels genuinely distinctive within its category.

For a build under $1 million, the consistency of execution is exceptional, making this a thoroughly deserving Supreme winner.

Supreme Renovation of the Year

LM Architectural Builders for a home in Merivale, Christchurch

This Supreme winner shows what can be achieved when exceptional craftsmanship is matched with restraint and respect for the existing home. Working on a tight site with difficult access, the builder faced challenges from the outset, yet the transition from old to new has been handled with remarkable care.

The addition feels as though it has always belonged, which is one of the hardest things to achieve in renovation work. The home’s original character has been retained and enhanced, rather than overwhelmed, with quality evident in the fittings, fixtures and finer construction details.

Beautifully resolved from top to bottom, this is renovation work of the highest order and a credit to a talented and dedicated team.
