Master Builders Board Announcement: David Kelly standing down as CEO

20 October 2023

The Board of Master Builders is today announcing that after nine years in the role, David Kelly is standing down as CEO.

From next February David will no longer be CEO but will continue to work with Master Builders in an advisory role to the association. The Board are delighted to have been able to retain David’s expertise and advisory support for the year ahead. This will be particularly important following the election, Master Builders will continue to lead the policy discussions based on our manifesto with the incoming Government.

Many of you will appreciate that David has led the Association through a significant period. Not only has he successfully managed our transition from a Federation to a National organisation, but he has also cemented RMBA as the leading voice for the building and construction sector. Under David’s leadership, Master Builders is punching well above its weight in the rooms that matter when it comes to advocacy.

Furthermore, David has also built an incredible team. He leaves the CEO role knowing that the leadership team and everyone at Master Builders will continue to support our members to build the homes, communities and facilities New Zealanders need.

The Board will begin the search for a new CEO with David providing input into the key considerations for the role.

I am sure you will all support me in thanking David for all his hard work over the past nine years and wishing him the very best in whatever he decides to do next.
