Building Practitioners Board – new member sought
27 May 2025
On behalf of the Minister for Building and Construction, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is seeking applications from candidates who wish to be considered for appointment to the Building Practitioners Board.
As a member of the Building Practitioners Board, you would play an important role in overseeing the Licensed Building Practitioners Scheme. As well as providing strategic oversight, a key function of the Board is to manage and contribute to disciplinary hearings.
The Minister is particularly keen to receive expressions of interest from registered and current Licensed Building Practitioners, particularly those in Carpentry. Ideally candidates will also have a thorough knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and the Building Code, dispute resolution experience, and experience of working in a collegial decision-making environment.
The time commitment of a Building Practitioners Board member is between 5 and 12 days per month (this includes preparation time for attendance at board meetings, sub-committee meetings, and hearings).
Applications close 5pm, Sunday 8 June 2025.
