2025 Apprentice of the Year entries opens TODAY!

7 March 2025

GET READY!

Now’s the ideal time to start laying the foundation for your apprentices, helping them hammer out the skills they need to build a path to the winners' podium. We've also reduced the length of time entrants need to have been apprenticed (now 18 months, down from 2 years).
For full details, check out the new T&C's!

With some solid groundwork, they could soon be cruising away in a shiny new ute, thanks to CARTERS—nailing it all the way.

Want to dig deeper?

Check out the 2025 Apprentice and Employer Entry Guide and swing by the Apprentice of the Year website.
Our website has lots of great tips for apprentices, including an outline of the entry process, examples of project submissions, previous practical building projects (with instructions!) and how entries are judged.

Join our online How to Succeed meeting!

If you’re unsure how to lay the first brick, don’t worry—just log in on March 10th at 6pm for our "How to Succeed" online meeting!

You’ll have the chance to ask any questions about the competition and get the lowdown straight from the competition team, judges, and past entrants. They’ll share all their top tips and tricks to help you build a winning entry!

Is Your Apprentice Eligible to Enter?

They need to:

  • Have completed at least eighteen months of their National Certificate in Carpentry on-site by 13 April 2025 and still be an apprentice at the time of entries close on 13 April 2025.
  • Be currently employed by, or contracted to a building firm or a builder at the time of the regional competition being judged (does not need to be a Master Builder).

 PREVIOUS BUILDING PROJECTS!

Want to know what you will be building at the regional or national practical challenge? We can’t tell you that, you’ll find out on the day. What we can show you is what our apprentices from previous years have made in the regional and national practicals. Check it out here.

SHOWCASE YOURSELF

This year we’re introducing Apprentice of the Year Quality Marks for winners of the Regional and National events so both you and your employer can promote your success.

They are a tangible demonstration of your skills and knowledge, and the quality of your work.
