Saturday 15 July 10pm
A Queenstown home has taken out this year’s Supreme Award in the Southern Registered Master Builders 2017 House of the Year competition.
Trinity QT Construction Limited won three regional awards for their Queenstown home, including the Southern Registered Master Builders 2017 Supreme House of the Year, a Gold Award and Category win for New Home over $2 million Award.
Judges called the winning home impressive, spanning across two stunning sections on Queenstown Hill with panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains.
“The home offers a wonderful flow, commencing when you first step into the entry foyer past the wine cellar,” they said.
“This flows up the stairs, where spacious glazed corridors lead you onto hidden courtyards and into a majestic living room.
“The extensive use of dark oak tongue and grooved timber wall panelling, timber flooring and Basalt stone throughout gives spaces a sense of warmth and material quality.
“This home is beautifully crafted and one that the builder can be extremely proud to have created for the owners.”
The results of the regional competition were revealed at a gala dinner on 15 July at the Skyline Restaurant. The winning builds were celebrated by Southern Registered Master Builders Association members and colleagues from the local construction industry.
There were 24 Gold Award winners from Southland which will now be judged against Gold Award winners from around the country to find the National Gold Reserve finalists.
National category winners and the Registered Master Builders Supreme Awards for House of the Year and Renovation of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner on 25 November at SKYCITY in Auckland.
The Awards are made possible through the support of PlaceMakers, Master Build Services, GIB, Nulook, CARTERS, Plumbing World, Resene and Bunnings Trade.

About the Registered Master Builders 2017 House of the Year
The competition is divided into two parts – the first is at a regional level, the second at a national level. Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners are determined using a points-based system. These award-winners are announced at 10 regional events held throughout New Zealand during July and August. The top local Gold Award winners become Gold Reserve National Finalists. The national finalists are then re-judged by a panel of judges who determine the overall national winners, which are announced at the National event in Auckland on 25 November.
